PBIS Program at Millbrook Elementary
PBIS has been a part of the culture here at Millbrook Elementary for over five years. The PBIS program goes hand-in-hand with the International Baccalaureate program here at Millbrook, as the philosophy aligns well with the PYP Learner Profiles and Attitudes.
We have established a set of school-wide expectations that are based on being a member of TEAM Millbrook. There are also clear behavioral expectations that exist for every area of the school, so students know exactly what is expected of the in each location. Expected behaviors are taught at the beginning of each school year and re-taught throughout the year to refresh and reinforce as necessary.
Students at Millbrook Elementary have many opportunities throughout the year to be recognized for demonstrating appropriate behaviors. Classes work to earn Compliments for following expectations as a whole-class, with the goal of earning 1,000 Compliments by the end of the school year. Individual students can also be recognized for demonstrating TEAM behaviors in a variety of ways.
The PBIS program at Millbrook Elementary also works to develop interventions to help students who struggle with behavior. The focus is on working with these individual students to help them build the skills they need in order to be successful in the classroom.
